After the death of his wife Beth, Dr. Evan Gibbs and his 10-year old son, Nate, leave Chicago to spend the summer setting up a clinic in the North Carolina Mountains. Clashing against the ways of the small community, Evan is forced to deal with his recent loss while reconnecting with his son and adopting to living at a different pace.
